Why does this tool upload my file when the others don't?
Reconstructing an editable Word document from a PDF takes heavyweight document analysis that browsers cannot run well yet. It is the one conversion on this site that happens on our server - clearly labeled, encrypted in transit, and with the file deleted the instant your DOCX is delivered.
How long is my file stored?
Seconds - exactly as long as the conversion takes. The PDF and the resulting DOCX are deleted from the server the moment the download is sent, and a watchdog additionally purges anything older than fifteen minutes in case of interrupted transfers. Nothing is logged about the content.
Will the Word file be editable text or images?
Editable text. Paragraphs, fonts, tables and embedded images are reconstructed as native Word elements you can edit, unlike tools that just photograph each page. Scanned PDFs are the exception - they contain only images, so run them through our Image to Text OCR tool instead.
How close to the original will it look?
Text documents, reports and letters convert very faithfully. Heavily designed layouts - magazines, multi-column brochures - may need touch-ups, because PDF and Word describe pages in fundamentally different ways. That is true of every converter, including paid ones.
Does it work with password-protected PDFs?
Not yet. Protected files are rejected with a clear message. Remove the password in your PDF viewer first, then convert.
Is there a file size or page limit?
Files up to 100 MB convert fine, which covers documents with hundreds of pages. Very long documents simply take a little more time.
