How to calculate hours worked
Enter start and end times
Standard 24-hour times; an end time before the start is treated as the next day, so night shifts just work.
Subtract the break
Enter unpaid break minutes and they come off the total.
Read both formats
Hours and minutes for humans, decimal hours for payroll systems (7h 30m = 7.5).
Working hours questions, answered
Is my data sent to a server?
No. Shift times are processed locally in your browser - your working patterns are nobody else's data.
How are overnight shifts handled?
If the end time is at or before the start time, it is assumed to be the next day: 22:00 to 06:00 is 8 hours, flagged as overnight.
Why do timesheets want decimal hours?
Payroll multiplies hours by an hourly rate, and 7.5 multiplies cleanly while 7:30 does not. The conversion is minutes divided by 60.
Can I calculate multiple breaks?
Add them up and enter the total minutes - two 15-minute breaks are 30 minutes off the total.
