How to convert ICO to PNG
Add your ICO files
Drag and drop icons anywhere in the box, click to browse, or paste them from your clipboard. Favicons and app icons both work.
Adjust options if you need to
The largest, sharpest image inside the icon is used automatically. You can resize it during conversion, for example to scale a 256-pixel icon down to exactly 64 pixels.
Convert and download
Click Convert. Everything runs on your own device, then download your PNGs one by one or bundled as a ZIP.
ICO to PNG questions, answered
An ICO contains several sizes. Which one do I get?
The largest frame in the file, which is also the sharpest. A typical favicon yields its 48 or 256 pixel version. If you need a smaller edition, set the exact size in the resize options during the same conversion.
Is transparency preserved?
Yes. Icon transparency, including the classic 1-bit masks of older icons, is converted into a proper PNG alpha channel, so the shape keeps its clean edges on any background.
Why convert an ICO to PNG at all?
Almost no editor, chat app or website accepts .ico as an image. Converting to PNG lets you edit a favicon in any tool, drop a logo into a document, or reuse an app icon in a design.
Where do I even get the .ico file of a website?
Most sites serve it at their domain followed by /favicon.ico. Save that file, drop it here, and you get the site's icon as an ordinary PNG.
Does this work with old Windows icons?
Yes. Both modern PNG-compressed icons and classic uncompressed icons from older Windows software convert, including their transparency masks.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. Icons are parsed and converted entirely inside your browser; nothing leaves your device.
