Is it really free, with no watermark and full resolution?
Yes to all three. Because the AI runs in your browser instead of on our servers, there is no per-image cost we would need to recover, so nothing is watermarked, downscaled or locked behind a subscription. Most online removers give you a small preview and charge for the full-size result.
Are my photos uploaded to a server?
No. The neural network runs as WebAssembly or WebGPU inside your browser. Your photos never leave your device, which also means there is no queue and no file size policing.
Why does the first conversion take longer?
On first use your browser downloads the AI model you selected: 46 MB for Best quality or 5 MB for Fast. It is cached afterwards, so later conversions skip straight to processing. The processing itself takes seconds per photo depending on your device, and uses GPU acceleration where the browser supports it.
What is the difference between the Best and Fast models?
Best uses a larger neural network that handles fine details like hair, fur and thin edges noticeably better, at the cost of a bigger one-time download and slightly longer processing. Fast is a 5 MB model that downloads almost instantly and works well for products and clearly separated subjects. You can switch anytime and re-convert.
What kind of photos work best?
A clear main subject gives the best result: people, portraits, products, animals or vehicles. The AI handles fine details like hair and fur well. Busy scenes where the subject blends into the surroundings are harder, as they are for every background remover.
What do I get as output?
A PNG at the same resolution as your input, either with a transparent background ready for design work, or flattened onto a solid color of your choice, ideal for product listings and profile photos.
Which AI model is used?
An open-source ISNet segmentation model, the same family used by popular open-source background removal tools. We host the model ourselves and it runs entirely on your hardware, so no third party ever sees your images.
